I fond new developments in java very interesting. It took me a while migrate; but it was worth it. I can seem to catch on to JDK7 yet; and there you go JDK8 is nearly out. The majority of 'technologies' ar...Spot on. The majority of 'technologies' are variations on common themes. If you know the basics of computer science and a couple of programming languages then you'll be able to pick them up. If you don't try to stay ahead of the curve then you'll miss entire sets of frameworks and APIs - which is a good thing! How many web frameworks have been invented and died?<br /><br />I'd add that you should try to learn the high level architectural archetypes as this allows you to slot technologies together.
